Hey, I was trying to perform the TMTRAINER effect with a Ditto with no moves, but I couldn't get it to work. How do you get the TMTRAINER glitch to work?
Also, on a side note, how does the Ditto with no moves behave in Generation II.

Well in order to get it I literally just open and close the fight menu until the type isn't Cooltrainer, and then the glitch activates (whether you use the move or leave the menu).

I have been wondering this for a while, is there any way to predict what ditto's glitch move and other similar glitch moves do at any given time? I swear whenever I use them, almost anything seems to happen, from freezes to music changes, sometimes I actully get the TMTRAINER effect, or sometimes weird stuff like growing to random levels happens. It just seems so unpredictable.

Yeah it can do other super glitch stuff too. It can also do super glitch stuff when you try to, for example, use a PP Up on it, but that's extremely rare (only happened to me once iirc). TMTRAINER is by far the most common super glitch effect (if, that is, the ohers are consistent not entirely random themselves!).

This video shows using each of the different indexes of the moves that are grouped together as Super Glitch. As for Ditto's blank move in Generation II, I have heard that it just causes a glitch dimension.

Does the blank move have to have greater than 0 pp to activate the tmtrainer effect?
Also, regarding Gen II, I traded a Ditto with a blank move with pp over to Crystal, and if I use the move outdoors, it works (plays rapid spin's annimation then poisons the opponent) but if I use it indoors it crashes the game. (Would be a glitch dimension but this is Crystal.) I was just wondering if someone has examined all of its effects.

(Would be a glitch dimension but this is Crystal.) I was just wondering if someone has examined all of its effects. In Gold/Silver, all (000, 252-255) just caused a glitch dimension or froze the game the last time I tried them, (or forced the opponent to use them, which gives different effects) though that was a couple of years ago, and I tested them all outside. The effects of the glitch moves differ in Crystal. You'll want to be able to use the move, then scroll through and garble the type names and hope the second time you use it you trigger the effect. I think you do need more than 0 PP, definitely to use the move, though it won't happen always, and only a couple of times. It tends to be easier to do in Pokémon Yellow as the type is 'random', as opposed to Cooltrainer(F), and you can scroll down to change the name, which may change the palette (a bit more on that below). In Red/Blue I've had to first switch Pokémon, switch their moves in battle and go back to the original Pokémon for some reason before being able to scroll through and change the displayed type (Cooltrainer(F)), where you can then often trigger the effect. In Yellow, things like "RED used YELLOW!" are more common, where as in Red/Blue you can get something like "RED used !" or "RED used (PKMN)". If "RED used YELLOW" from hex:00 (-) hits, then it does a bit of damage, and if it doesn't defeat the opponent the game freezes. Sometimes, the palette will change just by viewing the move when trying to scroll but other times the game will freeze. In Yellow, you can use this to your advantage in Diglett's Cave (n.t. location seems to be one factor which directly changes the move effects, but not the only one) and when Paco81 tried it, he managed to (partially) activate the effect, and change the species of the Pokémon and coincidentally when captured, it was Yellow Missingno. sometimes though you'll get Horsea instead. If you tried to use any move instead of capturing the Pokémon, the TMTRAINER effect happens. In Red/Blue, as opposed to Yellow, the moves AE-C3 are less likely to freeze the game for some reason when viewed or used, but they're still dangerous. When they don't freeze the game in Red/Blue, they can have more varied 'real' effects with animations, which doesn't seem to happen in Yellow. When an opponent uses hex:00 or hex:AC to hex:C3, then it seems to universally trigger the TMTRAINER effect regardless of the move if it works, but as for actually using moves 00, AC-C3 on the user's side, that doesn't seem to be the case, because the TMTRAINER effect seems more of a side effect (of something) than an actual effect. There must be, but unfortunately moves AC-C3 seem currently pretty much like the ' butterfly effect' of Pokémon at the moment if you know what I mean. I wouldn't be surprised if different damage ranges or getting a critical hit for those moves gave entirely different effects. When you're 'growing to random levels', it actually messes up your party (a bit like ZZAZZ) and player name, that's why it says certain Pokémon level up which you don't have. Unfortunately, not even one of the later emulators VBA 1.7.2 re-recording will let me view the party directly without memory viewer because the game freezes with a white screen, I'm not sure if that's a quirk with the emulation or not, because the save glitch which lets you corrupt your party for instance gives a white screen when viewing the party on older emulators, but lets you view it properly on a real cartridge.

In that case, anyone have a list of places where ether can be found in Gen I?
