As many of you know, I am a freak about the Battle Tower, and now, of course, the Battle Subway. I am starting a project where I play three streaks at once, on three cartridges in three DS units. I'm using Diamond, SoulSilver, and White, all of which have different Battle "Towers" (there's the Subway on White.) You can see some vids of it on my YouTube channel, but there's nothing exciting at the moment. I am using the following Pokémon:
Latias@Choice Scarf ** Zephyr
Timid Nature
IVs: 31/31/31/31/31/31
EVs: 252 HP/192 Def/60 Spe (Gen IV), 252 HP/252 Def/4 SpD (White)
- Trick
- Thunder Wave
- Charm
- Recover (Gen IV), Flash (White)
My favorite Trick lead, because of the typing and defenses. The EVs are rough in White, but with no EVs it outspeeds Choice Scarf Pinsir, a top tier threat. Flash in White because crippling is much more important than stalling there.
Registeel@Leftovers ** Reggie
Careful Nature
IVs: 31/31/31/20/31/27
EVs: 252 HP/100 Atk/142 Def/12 SpD
- Substitute
- Curse
- Amnesia
- Iron Head
If there was just that one "Battle Tower Pokémon," Registeel would be it. Excellent defenses and the perfect moves to back them up make him a wise choice. The only reason he isn't in White was that I wanted to make sure to use three different teams.
Salamence@Lum Berry ** Extra
Jolly Nature
IVs: 31/31/31/31/31/31
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
- Substitute
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Outrage
My preferred partner for Registeel. Intimidate rocks. Gets four subs max, which is great for scouting for a miss or stalling.
Garchomp@Lum Berry ** Watchman
Jolly Nature
IVs: 31/31/31/31/31/31
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
- Substitute
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Outrage
The "other" attacking partner in the Battle Tower world. Works basically the same as Salamence, though its typing creates some large differences.
Scizor@Leftovers ** Theta
Adamant Nature
IVs: 31/31/31/31/31/31
EVs: 116 HP/252 Atk/140 SpD
- Substitute
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
I used to use Scizor in SS, and he is quite a viable option. There is certainly something to be said for attacking priority, and though it fails at times when Registeel would succeed, it succeeds at times when Registeel would fail. Overall, I would have to say Registeel is better, but I didn't want to repeat a team.
I'll keep a log of my progress here in this post.
Diamond (Latias, Registeel, Garchomp): 49 record, 0 losses, 49 battles, at 49
No losses
SoulSilver (Latias, Registeel, Salamence): 63 record, 0 losses, 63 battles, at 63
No losses
White (Latias, Scizor, Salamence): 32 record, 3 losses, 102 battles, at 7
5/15 loss at 14, blunder
5/16 loss at 21 to I forget, dropped Cobalion afterward
5/16 loss at 32, T-Waved an Electivire switchin and got frozen by Ice Punch
