Hi guys, I found the following article to be quite interesting: tcrf.net/Pok%C3%A9mon_Gold_and_SilverThe parts about "Mr. Chrono" and "Test event" are quite intriguing. Also, it lists the infamous "No windows avail-able for popping!" as one of a few triggers, located at 0x195B4D. "Object event" is another trigger, at 0x195B84. I seem to recall the messages at 0x195B29 ("The window save area was exceeded" and 0x195B72 "Corrupted event!", as well as 0x195B93 ("BG event") appearing in a few glitching videos. Maybe this can help some of you, or maybe it can't. Either way, I just thought I'd contribute something. Pete

Hey Pete,
That article is indeed very interesting. Thankyou for sharing it with us. There are certainly a lot of hidden strings in there I have never heard about.

Hi Pete. I was the one who added those hex values for BG Event, Coordinates Event, No windows avail-able for popping, BIRD, ????? and Object Event to that article. They aren't actually triggers, but rather offsets where the messages are located (from first character) in the ROM.
That's the Cutting Room Floor Wiki. It's quite useful for information about unused elements in video games and very thorough for a few like Super Mario World and Pokémon Gold and Silver. I read about that page in mid-2010 but I can't understand everything on the article though, because I'm not very good at ROM hacking.

Torchickens:
Interesting. Do you have a screenshot of "BG Event" and "Coordinates Event"?
Also, are there certain circumstances under which each of the event messages occurs?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought an object event was, for example. talking to a trainer and being forced into a battle. Is it something else?
Thanks, Pete
