Recently, this was added to Bulbapedia by Jumpman16 on the Battle Subway article, but it was quickly reverted.
"Walrein and Donphan with the move Metronome are used by opponents. Neither of these Pokémon can legitimately know this move."
Does anybody know if this is true?
Also, in Generation III there is in fact a Trainer in Victory Road in Pokémon Emerald, who has a Lanturn which knows Earthquake (maybe an oversight when overwriting details of old R/S Trainers?)

Wow, I think I remember that Lanturn with Earthquake, and I was surprised by that. Weird.
Anyway, I was thinking of this kind of thread a while back, and here are the ones that I know of:
Red/Blue/Yellow
- Lance's Dragonite knows Barrier, but cannot learn it in any way.
Gold/Silver/Crystal
- Lance cheats again -- his Aerodactyl knows Rock Slide. Interestingly, Aerodactyl can learn this move since Generation III and beyond. - Pryce has a Piloswine at Level 31 that knows Fury Attack, even though it cannot learn it until Level 33. As Swinub cannot learn Fury Attack at all, it couldn't have learned it by breeding, either, so this is illegal.
Pokémon Stadium 2
- Psychic Mason, the eighth trainer in Poké Cup Ultra Ball R-2, has a Blastoise with both Haze and Mirror Coat. Blastoise can learn both of these moves by breeding, but not both at the same time, as there is no Pokémon in the same Egg Group as Blastoise that can learn both of these moves (although I heard this was no longer the case as of Generation III).
- Lt. Surge has a Raichu in R-2 with both Surf and Reversal. Raichu can learn Surf by teaching it to a Pikachu in Pokémon Stadium, and it can learn Reversal by breeding, but it cannot learn both of these moves at the same time. After all, if it knows Reversal, you cannot send it to R/B/Y to make it learn Surf, unless you remove the move -- at which point it can't get Reversal back.
Interestingly, neither of these movesets are highlighted in purple text, even though the game normally does this for illegal movesets. Apparently it doesn't pick up illegal move combinations.
I don't remember offhand if there are other illegal Pokémon. These are all the ones that I know.

Jumpman is a very credible source for anything battle tower related - I mean he has the highest win streak of anyone in the world - so I doubt he is lying unless it is an impostor.

That's by Team Rocket Elite of Smogon. He's a Battle Frontier/Subway Doubles fanatic.
