Interestingly enough, according to an archived page of upokecenter here: web.archive.org/web/20080520232230/www.upokecenter.com/games/rby/guides/trades.html these trades apparently exist within Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow. Pokémon Red/Blue: CHIKUCHIKU the Beedrill (BUTTERFREE for BEEDRILL) (Anglicized version of チクチク 'prickle') ? Pocket Monsters Blue: チクチク the Beedrill (BUTTERFREE for BEEDRILL) Pokémon Yellow: STINGER the Beedrill (BUTTERFREE for BEEDRILL) BART the Mew (MEW for MEW). MARTY the Pidgeot (PIDGEOT for PIDGEOT) I have heard of CHIKUCHIKU the Beedrill and the unused Butterfree for Beedrill trade before from an Azure Heights forum post, though it was taken as simply being a remnant (Anglicization?) of a 'used' trade from Pocket Monsters Blue. STINGER, BART and MARTY all appear in IIMarckus' text dump and it was only recently a member of Bulbapedia 'Stag019' brought up the archived page of Upokecenter describing the trades. Though somehow, I honestly did not see 'BART' being used for a MEW for MEW trade on that page until now. Makes a little bit of sense for its backsprite and Red/Green sprite (bumpy head) and Bart Simpson's 'spiky hair'. Even though it could be an error on Upokecenter's half, I can't help but think that it might be a hidden Easter Egg ('BART' the Yellow Mew) even though I don't watch the Simpsons!

I doubt Bart the Mew is a play on the backsprite and the character from The Simpsons. It's probably a play on the name Bartholomew.

Ahh that also would explain a lot.
