The "Acroslide" is my name for a well known trick in many Pokémon games, commonly known as the "Day Care Trick." Here's the procedure: 1. Deposit dudes in the Daycare. 2. Get the Acro Bike or switch gears to the one similar. 3. Go to a mudslide, face it, and tape down the up button. I was wondering if we should document this as an oversight or not. It doesn't involve altering the game or causing unusual occurrences, but we are documenting, for instance, the "Focus Energy Oversight." Thoughts?

You can also do this in D/P (and most likely platinum) with the tiles that force you to move in fuego ironworks.

It's certainly a trick, and it's probably not an intentional feature, so I don't see the problem.
A bug in logic is still a bug.

I agree with Abwayax, though I suddenly feel that it would be confusing not to differentiate this from say the "Miscellaneous Glitches" template.
Perhaps we could use a separate template which would include (on a technical basis) popular exploitations of the game engine, in a way that unintentional bugs in the game engine itself are not abused.
For example:
Miscellaneous glitches (Diamond/Pearl) would include 'Simultaneous Weather glitch', 'Broken escalator glitch (JP)', etc.
Whilst the new template(s) might include PRNG abuse in Emerald/Platinum (Pseudorandom number generator), grinding techniques (?), quick egg hatching techniques and similar.
An analogy being that the new templates would include tricks (exploits) which are not ecologically valid to what is expected, though are still 'legit' nevertheless. e.g. you manage to to hatch an Egg in as little as 5 minutes.

Who is Abwaywax, and what is the focus energy oversight? Abwayax is Professor Glitch. Focus energy oversight: Focus Energy doesn't actually increase your critical hit ratio in Generation I. Azure Heights (an early Pokémon website which used to specialize in game mechanics back in the days of Generation I and II) said that Focus Energy actually quarters the chances of getting a Critical Hit instead of quadrupling it. IIMarckus' explanation: "No effect if user is faster than opponent. If user is slower, Critical Hit ratio goes to 0/511."

For the GBA games at least, there's an easier way than taping down any buttons, if you have a Game Boy Player. On a GameCube controller, hold Down on the Control Stick, and while doing this, hold X+Y+Start for two seconds (alternately, you can unplug and replug the controller). This sets the Down position as neutral, meaning that if you let go of the Control Stick, it tricks the game into thinking you're pressing Up.

I don't see how this is a glitch/bug/oversight/programming error/whatever, because you're taking steps, so of course the eggs are going to hatch. Those steps may be into a wall, but in Generation IV, on the Poketch that kind of step was recorded on the Step Counter app.
