...but if they haven't seen it how would they know it was the biglist in the first place? especially when its not formatted nor titled and just looks like random garbage. it really would have been easier to just link to an archive of it instead of copypasting the entire thing with no explanation of what it was.

A few things I've seen, don't know what qualifies/doesn't, was found/wasn't: 1. I forget where, but on some pokemon emerald sea route, I saw a half-finished rock 2. Although most of my playing with the mew glitch on yellow yielded game freezes or legit pokemon, one of the times I did it (i forget what trainer i battled) the screen looked like a mid-battle with missingno. screen from the start, but the text box said "MISSINGNO. IS TRYING TO LEARN" so my curiosity made me press A. It scrolled through to the same text again. and again. and again. I only pressed A a few times, so it may display more after a long time. 3. I used to be able on pokemon emerald to go past the pokemon center border by pressing A next to a PC screen to stack them up and then walking up the stack, but I took a break from doing that for a while and it stopped working. When I did it, everything except people's sprites went black, NPCs didn't speak, and going far enough away and coming back would make the sprites vanish (except in some centers where I was stuck in one spot). Also, the game said I was in Petalburg and Gym music played. Fly and dig didn't work, but I never tried teleport.

I've experienced #2 before, outside of battle too and once on the title screen (albeit, you couldn't read the font there) when messing around with the Gameshark. I believe the message goes on endlessly. I know that it's possible without Gameshark, but I don't know of a definitive way to replicate it. 3. Reminds me of this. P.S. Petalburg City appears to be the default map location. If you fall through a hole and there is no defined location in memory, the game will send you to Petalburg City instead of e.g. the last Sky Pillar floor. The same thing can happen when setting your character to an invalid 'gender' and walking out of the truck.

Is there some form of list somewhere with glitch/placeholder items? because I have an item on emerald called ??, and I don't know if it can actually do anything whatsoever.

just to clarify, the item's name is 8 question marks, but the first few autocorrected and became a smiley.

Is there some form of list somewhere with glitch/placeholder items? because I have an item on emerald called ????????, and I don't know if it can actually do anything whatsoever. In Generation III, there are also dummied out items from the previous games, such as the Bicycle and S.S. Ticket, as well as a few ??? items in between identifiers of real items, without any use. AFAIK, nothing but ???????? occupy the rest, though I'm not sure what would happen if you forced the game to bring up text for 'no item' (hex:00), unfortunately we haven't ever been able to find any use for the ???????? (except I suppose selling them, for something that isn't 0 Pokédollars if its even possible. Sorry, I honestly can't remember.) There are a couple of dummied out key items which are actually 'usable' to some extent. If you use the Mach Bike or Acro Bike in FireRed/LeafGreen, they act as a normal Bicycle. If you use HM08 Dive in FireRed/LeafGreen, it works as expected in Ruby/Sapphire, though since Dive wasn't a HM move in FireRed/LeafGreen you can easily delete the move, so its more like an 'unlimited TM'. just to clarify, the item's name is 8 question marks, but the first few autocorrected and became a smiley. No problem. Next time, just check the "if this box is checked, smiley emoticons will be disabled in your message." box.

OK here is something that's been baffling me... when I try to use the Mew glitch, why is it that whenever I trigger a text box (e.g. by talking to someone or reading a sign) in the town right before the route with the Pokémon that's supposed to appear, random dialogue boxes from NPCs in that route show up? For example, when I fly from a trainer in Route 8 (the route just west of Lavender Town), and then I eventually fly to Lavender Town and talk to someone there (even inside buildings as well), a random text box from an NPC in Route 8 will appear as soon as I get there, instead of the Start menu. Has anybody noticed this before? If so, why does it do this? Although, if I talk to someone but go to a different route other than the one that triggers the wild Pokémon, this gets reset as if I didn't talk to anyone. Also, even crazier, depending on who I talk to in Lavender Town, sometimes fights against trainers that I haven't beaten yet will occur, instead of the Pokémon that I intended to find. But after beating the trainer, the game goes haywire, with glitchy sounds/music, graphical effects, and sometimes even an instant second fight against the same trainer I just finished battling. Usually the game gets unstable (with inconsistent results too) at this point no matter what happens, so I often have to reset the game. But does anybody know why this happens? I think this is "The 1 Error" Glitch.

So I Got a gameboy color somtime ago and got a saving pokemon red. When I get to cinnabar should I catch missingno.? I never saw any real appeal to catching Missingno. or 'M, but then Later I learned about other glitch pokemon that are much more interesting, so I've decided to collect all the glitch pokemon including Missingno. If you'd like to catch Missingno. and are worried about the Hall of Fame getting corrupted, then just be sure to do it only before defeating the elite four, (plus don't view Missingno.'s stats after beating them), and you should be fine. If your Hall of Fame gets corrupted after beating the elite four for the first time you can always restore it.

Depends which Missingno. you catch, and frankly our English-version 'normal' Missingno.'s base stats are awful (they have huge attack, but terrible base HP, Speed, Defense and Special), so it's probably only worth encountering to duplicate your items and not catching it, unless you're collecting glitch Pokémon.
The fossil and ghost Missingno. are a little more useful, because not only do they add to the sixth item by 128 when you encounter it (all dex 000s do), but you can change their base stats and move compatibility to be like other Pokémon below it. However, to get a fossil or ghost Missingno., you need either a w, x or y in the third, fifth or seventh position of your name before doing the Old Man trick, or you can perform the extended Trainer-Fly / 'ditto trick' with a Special of 182, 183 or 184. Also, the fossil and ghost Missingno. activate a Pokédex entry and turn into Rhydon upon capture, IIRC so you have to get them twice.

Is there some way to corrupt the players name, so that characters not available when selecting a name end up in it? If so, this would allow different Pokémon/glitch Trainers to appear from the old man glitch.

It's possible through memory viewer, but that's cheating.
