Hi all! ;D
I am stuck trying to stabalize a hybrid pokemon.
What I mean is, i am performing the Q trick for pokemon RBY to add moves to a pokemon that doesnt evolve (Hitmonlee), and giving it moves from other 2 pokemon who also dont evolve (Zapdos/Aerodactyl). From what I understand (from GCL), you can stabalize hybrids that dont evolve by using Stadium 2, but you have to do the opposite. In this case, I want Aerodactyl to have Zapdos' moves (Thunder, Drill Peck, and Thundershock), so Instead I gave Aerodactyl's moves to Zapdos. However, when i import them to Stadium 2, My Zapdos comes up as an Aerodactyl with the normal aerodactyl moves, when it should be an Aerodactyl with Zapdos' moves. Does anyone possibly have any info to clear this up? It might have to do with the fact that im doing this on Blue Version, but I doubt it.
Thanks in Advance ;D

@guest1337 Sorry that I can't help. I have no experience with the Q glitch. Torchickens may be able to help, though.
Also, a few things to add to the wiki when it's back up, found through various means: - From Bulbapedia: In Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, due to a glitch, if the player manages to obtain an egg before any other Pokémon, they will repeatedly black out and be forced to restart the game. This was remedied in Generation III and later games by requiring the player to have two Pokémon with them in order to trade, rather than just one. - From me noticing: When Wally tries to catch Ralts in Pokékon Ruby and Sapphire (dunno about Emerald,) the text while selecting an action says "What will WALLY do?" even when Zigzagoon is out. - From various sources a while back: There's a place in Sootpolis (I'll get a screenshot eventually) where a tile that normally should have obstacle properties can be walked on. No other tiles may be walked on from there other than the one it was entered from, though.

Nrrh. Forum won't let me log in. Too late at night to figure it out. Anyhow, I was reading through this rather amusing "Let's Play" of Blue- not your typical LP. It's a compilation of several glitches, many of them well-known, and it's made rather interesting by some of the commentary. However, it was this mini-update to the LP that intrigued me: "How to get gen 2 pokemon in your very own pokemon blue!" Now it only works on an emulator, and it's not something I can test (I don't own any emulators). However, it seems fairly straightforward. And it does make sense- nothing ridiculous or extremely farfetched. Granted, it doesn't appear to be a very useful thing to do, unless you want to freak out clueless people. lparchive.org/Pokemon-Blue/Update%2009/Since I can't personally confirm or refute this, I was wondering if someone could give it a try. Or if anyone had heard of this trick.

Newo, one of our admins, made that possible back on April 1st, 2007. He just copied some VRAM in memory viewer from G/S/C and pasted it in R/B/Y and then edited the name of the pokemon. There's a better guide somewhere on the forum once it comes back up. It's fun if you know how to get it to work. Try it!
(Also, you need to register to login to this temporary forum.)

@guest1337 Sorry that I can't help. I have no experience with the Q glitch. Torchickens may be able to help, though. I also have no experience with the Pokémon Stadium II method because I don't own the game, sorry. Glisp was the person who added that on to the GCL Wiki's Q Trick page, IIRC. Perhaps you could try and contact him. See his "Super Q Trick" video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=codkIvjMUt4Also, a few things to add to the wiki when it's back up, found through various means: - From Bulbapedia: In Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, due to a glitch, if the player manages to obtain an egg before any other Pokémon, they will repeatedly black out and be forced to restart the game. This was remedied in Generation III and later games by requiring the player to have two Pokémon with them in order to trade, rather than just one. Yes, that's true. It would be a nice addition to the Wiki. Along those lines, apparantly it is impossible to trade a Magnemite or Magneton to Gold/Silver from R/B/Y because of its typing. One of the triggers for the ~ "This Pokémon is abnormal." error handler is if the typing for one Pokémon species outside of G/S/C does not match the typing of the relevant species in G/S/C. Since Magnemite and Magneton's typing is Electric, it is not possible to trade them to G/S/C because of the new Steel/Electric typing. RE: Wally Good eyesight! Its interesting how simple quirks such as those can be overlooked. Anomalies such as these I attempted to implement into a "List of grammar and translation errors in the Pokémon games" page. Blaziken257 and I managed to find a lot, though because of the memory issues I was unable to add any more. I saved an off-line draft, including the new additions if you're interested. It is incomplete and the title would probably have to be changed to include your addition. www.megaupload.com/?d=SYCXEALJRE: Sootopolis' collision-ingYes, there are several examples of less well-known oddities like these, along with the glitches we already have documented such as "walk through walls without Gameshark", "trainer walking through ledge glitch" and "get stuck in a wall" glitch. To name a few:1)In the Mirage Tower a transparent tile below a ladder blocks the player, though the developers didn't do this anywhere else. 2)It is possible to land on a rock in Sky Pillar. 3)In Viridian City (R/B/Y), you can use a ledge to jump directly on top of an NPC. 4)A select bug in Japanese Green, replicating the WTW glitch above without the need of the Safari Zone. [Its a shame that we don't have any active Japanese users here we have documented the dokokashira door glitch and a 'fossil conversion glitch' but no other select bugs]. 5+) Several in-game time relating exploits, such as saving in front of the Pokémon League in G/S/C and having Silver run right through you to fight on certain days of the week.

I have a gameboy colour cart that has 38 games in one. one of them is pokemon yellow. Aparently its a pirate copy because if I store pokemon in a box them change the box and them try to change it back...... THERE POKEMON IN OTHER BOXES WHEN I DIDN'T PUT ANY IN THEM! So I decided to look... Lets have a look: ?= glitch dialog 100 163 ??rocket? 72 and so on. I had to deposit a pokemon in the box to take out the glitch ones. It was strange. I went into grass and sents out one and when i attacked, the tm trainer effect came into action. after the battle the glitch pokemon evolved. (it was a discoloured porygon with a strange cry) it evolved into well.... its self. still a gliched porygon.... then the save data got deleted... I cant play it no more cause i dont have a gba sp no more.

Some random glitches that I have found: - In R/S/E, in Lilycove City, there is a strange block behind one of the buildings, right by the water. Even though the building covers this block, you can tell that it's there because it's solid. When using an emulator to remove one of the layers (Ctrl+2 on VBA), you can see that the block looks weird: - I don't know if this should count, but in Spanish versions of R/S/E, in slot machines, any pixelated text on the right side of the screen is still in English (Note: I have no idea if this is the case in French/Italian/German versions, somebody should look into that): - In Gold/Silver, when listening to the radio (either from a radio in a house or using the Radio Card on the Pokégear), quotation marks are in Japanese (『』). (Hmmm, this reminds me of bootleg versions of Telefang...) I think this occurs in every language version, since I've seen it in both English and Spanish (but once again, I haven't looked at French/Italian/German). It's not in Crystal though. - In the English version of Crystal, ellipses are raised like this: ・・・ This error doesn't occur in Spanish though, so I guess that this error is only in English. - I'm not sure if anybody cares about this one, but in Spanish versions of Diamond/Pearl (haven't checked Platinum yet, but I'm sure that it's also true here), when you get the Dot Artist app in Sunyshore City, the screen has the English sentence "Touch!" If this were properly translated it would be "¡Toca!" I swear I didn't draw this. - In G/S/C, in the Burned Tower, there is a Firebreather whose sprite turns gray when defeated. I don't remember exactly which one this is though. I'll come up with more as I think of them.

When trainers are defeated in Cinnabar Mansion on RBY, the victory theme is slowed down (found on Postbellum, but there's nothing I changed that would cause it.)

When trainers are defeated in Cinnabar Mansion on RBY, the victory theme is slowed down (found on Postbellum, but there's nothing I changed that would cause it.) That's interesting, is it just Cinnibar Mansion which plays a slowed down victory theme or cave-like music in general? (try entering 0102EFC0, 0102F0C0 to turn Cinnibar Mansion into the Route 1 theme) The Cinnibar Mansion theme is also 'slow' (search 01XXE9C0) but I don't know why it doesn't apply to the normal wild battle victory theme. Some other battle related glitches which we could add in addition to those already on the Wiki once it is back up:We already had a few of these like the Focus Energy oversight (quarters critical hit ratio instead of quadruples it) and the Softboiled/Recover glitch (fails if Pokémon's HP is a multiple of 256), though there are more. Red/Blue/Yellow:[Some fixed in Stadium] 1) Due to there being 'no turns' in R/B/Y, when your last Pokémon faints due to Self-Destruct or Explosion but defeats the opponent you lose the battle as normal, though you also win it at the same time. The victory theme plays though IIRC the "X is out of usable Pokémon" message overrides "X defeated Y!" so you white out as usual. 2) Leech Seed and Toxic use the same function to calculate damage (N * max(1, int(0.0625*MaxHP) but N doesn't increase for Leech Seed. Regardless, if you use Leech Seed after using Toxic the damage of Leech Seed will increase every turn because the 'bad poison' has already increased 'turn' (N) prior. Fixed in Generation II and onwards. 3) [Debatable as a glitch] Hyper Beam does not need to recharge if it takes down the opponent in one hit. (Also related to there being 'no turns', though this was reintroduced as a feature in Black/White). 4) Self-Destruct/Explosion glitch (2): I'm not sure if we already had this noted, but using Explosion on a Substitute will break it but not faint the user, though the user's picture will disappear. 5) Using Haze on a Frozen Pokémon which also hasn't recharged from a Hyper Beam yet removes the Freeze status? (Mentioned indirectly from the [discontinued?] 'openpkmn' Generation I simulator Wiki's "Difference in Mechanic's" page: sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/openpkmn/index.php?title=Differences_in_Mechanics#Move_Mechanics_of_Note). 6) A miss from Rage reduces its accuracy the next turn to 0.4% 7) There is a 1/65535 chance that a Master Ball will fail due to the catch rate algorithm. (old RGBY [and GSC?] catch rate algorithms only). 8) Bind also negates the recharge of Hyper Beam. 9) Agility when paralysed not only greatly increases the user's speed, but also negates the speed-drop from paralysis. Speed-lowering moves (are there any in Generation I?) also circumvent the paralysis. 10) Its possible to combine moves like Reflect and Barrier/Light Screen and Amnesia to roll-over 1023 Defense/Special Defense and consequently end up which much lower defences due to the larger number modulo 1024. 11) Moves like Swords Dance and Growl circumvent the negative effects of a Burn. Gold and Silver:1) If a user's regular Ditto transforms and the player switches the transformation away to a shiny Pokémon the transformation momentarily appears shiny. 2) Unless I'm mistaken, a shiny Ditto transforming into another Shiny Pokémon makes the transformation a normal Pokémon? [Not fixed until DPPt I believe]. 3) A similar situation to the Reflect/Barrier or Light Screen/Amnesia overflow involving a Thick Club Marowak and Swords Dance. The absolute attack limit was raised in Pokémon Stadium II, so it doesn't overflow this way there. Ruby and Sapphire:1) Amulet Coin doubles how many coins you can get from Pay Day when held by the attacker, though until FireRed and LeafGreen it would still say the normal amount of coins in battle when using the move. Other undocumented over-world related glitches:Yellow:1) A Pokémon Tower glitch in Yellow, which involves fainting the walking Pikachu, and going on the bottom-rightmost rune on the third floor and walking away. It apparently de-synchronises Pikachu's movement with the player, though I haven't been able to get it to work. Has been noted on the French PRAMA Initiative glitch website. www.prama-initiative.com/index.php?page=glitches-mineurs-rbj-8#Pikachu

Something from a long time ago, althuogh moves such as amensia can be used three times before failing, a pokemon with an extreme special stat (eg a level 255 mewtwo) may only be able to use it twice or even once (probably due to a maximum?) Also probably already known I don't see why it wouldn't work with other stats too

Also probably already known I don't see why it wouldn't work with other stats too Yes, a max Special Mewtwo at Level 100 for example, only needs to use Amnesia twice. The cap is 999 (cannot be exceeded by stat boosting moves) though the absolute maximum is (1024)-1, which you can exceed in combination with Light Screen or Reflect.

Hyper Beam actually just needs to KO the opponent; not necessarily take it out in one hit. A couple of glitches in the later games: In Platinum/HeartGold/SoulSilver, the Battle Tower starts from scratch after 1792 consecutive wins. When Palmer is fought for the third and fourth times in the streak, though, a normal trainer will appear with no message, and a battle will begin against Palmer. Only 7 BP will be received, however. In Diamond/Pearl, if one selects "Rest" before battling Palmer and doesn't save and turn off the game, a normal trainer will appear instead of Palmer, and Palmer will be fought but with no 20 BP reward (not sure how much.)
