Regarding the Johto Guard glitch from long ago. I can confirm it, although I'm not sure what determines the actual species (it becomes a glitch Pokémon with a higher index number than the original G/S/C Pokémon [unless this loops over 255]), though it mean more non Japanese Red/Blue glitch Pokémon for us to experiment with without using a Gameshark! One additional step was required which we missed, which involves 'stabilizing' the obtained Pokémon (which would turn into an 'M/3trainerpoké) via Route 5's Daycare Centre, which I think was mentioned before but never tried?
I tried this glitch with a Sentret, which became a 'M nicknamed 'SENTRET', though depositing it into daycare turned into the equivalent glitch Pokémon for the original Gold/Silver Pokémon though with index number +39 ("U ?" index #200).
There are three 'rules' to this glitch, which are as follows:
1) Although a ????? (254 and 255: I'm not sure about 000 and 252) will hide Johto Pokémon below it, allowing access to the Time Capsule it does not hide the Gold/Silver/Crystal exclusive moves, so you will have to delete those via the Move Deleter first. 2) A G/S Pokémon species with index #>151 (0x98) will turn to an 'M hex 00; however it seems to be only an unstable hybrid. 3) The actual species is linked with the Pokémon index number +(something) if it has an index number >151 on Gold/Silver.
Steps: 1) Obtain a ????? [hex 0xFF] and use it to hide a Gold/Silver Pokémon (with any Generation II exclusive moves deleted). 2) Trade the Gold/Silver Pokémon to Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow. It should turn into an 'M/3trainerpoké 3) Take the 'M/3trainerpoké into Route 8's daycare and immediately withdraw it. It shall turn into a Pokémon with index number of the original Gold/Silver/Crystal Pokémon +39 provided that the original G/S/C index number was above 151. (I haven't tested with G/S/C Pokémon with index numbers above 216 yet).
There's a complication somewhere which I'm still confused about though, because the glitch Pokémon is not always the same as the index number original G/S/C +39, as seen with the Celebi used in this video. It became a Nidoran♀ which is of index number 21 (hex 0x15), even though 251 + 39 (modulo 256) is not 21 and is instead 4.

Hi Torchickens.
Johto Guard Glitch only works using a glitch Pokémon no. 255 (with 000, 252, 253 and 254 don´t works).
I've found something useful. Once inside of the Capsule Time, in G/S/C before to enter in the trade screen switch to 255 at the last position in the party. This prevents that the G/S/C Pokémon turn into 'M/3trainerpoké when trade them to R/B/Y.
Johto Guard Glitch is very confusing. In my case Sentret turn into in the same glitch Pokémon as in you video but Celebi turn into in a Mankey, strangely Cyndaquil turn into in the same glitch Pokémon as Sentret.

Torchickens, How do your videos with 2 Pokémon versions linked?
Some version of the TGB Dual emulator has that function?

Hi Paco. That's really helpful. Thanks for the information.

To record, I used an external application called CamStudio.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It appears that the conversion list for Pokémon index numbers 1-250 is hard-coded into the ROM in G/S/C (R/B/Y Pokémon read to G/S/C), but I'm still really confused as to what happened to Celebi.
![[image] [image]](http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/4821/rbtogsctable.png)
How to read it:
R/B/Y -> G/S/C:
If you take the first value and call it hex:01 we get hex:70. In Generation I, since 01 is Rhydon, trading a Rhydon from R/B/Y will give you hex:70; the index number for Rhydon in Generation II. If you take the second value and call it 02 (Kangaskhan in Generation I) we get hex:73, the index number for Kangaskhan in Generation II.
G/S/C -> R/B/Y:
We can do the reverse, and search for the index number of the G/S/C Pokémon from the block data highlighted in the picture. From there we can count how late it appears in the block to deduce its R/B/Y index number.
This list apparently applies to all glitch Pokémon (except RB/Y:000) up to the (FA) [250]th index number. Trading a RB/Y: FA ('glitcherino'/ゥゥ♂), gives hex:D3 (211), Qwilfish, so (in theory), you would need to transfer a Qwilfish over from G/S/C to get 'glitcherino' or ゥゥ♂.
Paco, did your Cyndaquil become a ".4"? If we look for Cyndaquil (9B) it corresponds to hex:C2 (194), which is the index number of .4/pPkMnp. ".4" and "U?" both use the 'Pokémania' type and a Pokédex number of 234 .
I saw such a list before on Bulbapedia, but unfortunately overlooked its meaning. Bulbapedia's list of Pokémon by index number (Generation I) has a simplified version of the list, with the equivalent Pokémon added by Koolboyman.

Torchickens, thanks a lot for your explanation was very helpful for me.
The Bulbapedia's list is correct, I traded a Qwilfish to Red version and turned into a Glitcherino. Also I traded a Shuckle and turned in Missingno Hex 20 for try evolve fire types Pokémon (Vulpix, Eevee, Growlithe) without Fire Stone and it worked.
Another method for trade G/S/C Pokémon to R/B/Y is:
In G/S/C get hybrid Pokémon (GSC Pokémon with RBY sprite Pokémon), then also is possible enter to Capsule Time with GSC Pokémon.

In RBY stabilize the hybrid Pokémon (without HM moves) via Route 5's Daycare Center.
