Chrome seems legit... What legendary would be on the cover art though? There's been three "legendaries" for each set of games minus RBY, LG/FR.

Well, in the games, there's a lot of mentioning of Zekrom and Reshiram originally being one Pokemon that split, maybe they'll recombine in the next game to make the 650th Pokemon?

I thought Zekrom and Reshiram split from Kyurem.

No, Kyurem is its own self (but seeing as how it's Dragon/Ice, has "a powerful, freezing energy inside itself" and grey and ends with r*m (ZekRoM ReshiRaM KyuReM), it could be the feature legendary of Grey/Chome/w/e) while Zekrom and Reshiram came from a Pokemon that split itself completely. You can catch Kyurem in B/W in the Giant Chasm.
P.S.: Kyurem can also learn fly just like Zekrom and Reshiram so more relations. (Inb4 someone says learning the same type moves doesn't mean shit and if we went that route then Farfetch'd is also related to them and will be on the cover of Pokemon Dux Version, the "Yellow" of Black and White)

Maybe Pokemon Purple, because of Genesect?

Genesect is like the arceus of this game though, I think it will be something related to Kyurem (maybe Metallic version of something? Because Kyurem is kind of silver colored, although not steel type.)

I hope that it is Pokemon Clear and they actually make the plastic on the cartridge transparent.

Blah.

Pokemon Gray.
Kyurem. But I also like the idea of Reshiram and Zekrom combining to make #650. But what would they do about the typing? Dragon/Electric/Fire?

Well, in the games, there's a lot of mentioning of Zekrom and Reshiram originally being one Pokemon that split, maybe they'll recombine in the next game to make the 650th Pokemon? Something interesting of note, regarding tentative 'post-649' Pokémon/'planned 650' and/or formes in a new game. This silhouette of an unidentified Pokémon: was found within data for the navigation bar of the tutorial page of the recently launched Pokémon Trading Card Online website hidden amongst data for the Unova starter Pokémon. EDIT: It's still up as of now. I quickly decompiled the SWF using Flash Decompiler Trillix and made a short video. This is the SWF I'm referring to: assets.pokemontcg.com/Tutorials/TutorialNavigation.swfI'm less confident now because it looks more of a separator/placeholder of some sort rather than a serious unused/unreleased Pokémon. Some of the different body size icons in the games have used ambiguous shapes which don't necessarily match any Pokémon.

I'm not sure what the name of it would be, but I get the feeling it would be something related to Kyurem. Heck, maybe it COULD be grey.

Pokémon Grey was already trademarked in 2008, so if Game Freak are in the process of developing a Pokémon Grey, they're already protected commercially. Other trademarks include: 2008-093269 [Pokemon Black]2008-093270 [Pokemon Brown] (counter-act against selling Koolboyman's hack?) 2008-093271 [Pokemon White]2008-093273 [Pokemon Scarlet] 2008-093274 [Pokemon Purple] 2008-093275 [Pokemon Crimson] 2008-093276 [Pokemon Scarlet] 2009-060076 [Pokémon Vermillion] Though it doesn't imply these are all going to come out, because AquaBlue was also trademarked before the release of FireRed and LeafGreen IIRC.

Why is Scarlet there twice? :/ Interesting though. Where did you find this?

Why is Scarlet there twice? :/ Interesting though. Where did you find this? A few years ago, I saw the trademarks reported on GoNintendo here. gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=69769 Regarding Scarlet, it's there twice because it's apparently 'written differently' on one of the trademarks. (maybe in both Hiragana and Katakana? Though I'm just guessing there) You can search through the Japanese trademark database on some websites I think, but I've never really done it. I saw Pokémon Vermillion on a thread on NeoGAF about filed trademarks. This is also old but Nintendo trademarked the name Zii, along with Bii, Cii, Oii and Yii.

Thanks, I don't see how it's written differently though cause they're both in English... Doesn't Game Freak run the Pokémon franchise in Japan? Although these are what Google's translations were for "scarlet": noun スカーレット 真紅 朱色 猩々緋 猩猩緋 (the last two of which are the same, by the way, so four translations)
Anyway, if Pokémon Grey was trademarked, it's highly likely to be the answer.
